Feeling Stuck?

As humans, it’s not uncommon to experience seasons in life when we feel stuck. In my experience, however, I have noticed that this feeling of “stuckness” can be exacerbated in individuals who grew up within a family enterprise. I often work with clients who, in addition to the desire to self-actualize personally and vocationally, often feel tangled within the requirements (overt or otherwise) of remaining a part of their larger family system. I also work with clients who may want larger family consulting in the future but, for various reasons, do not feel like their family is ready for this work. Taking time to gain individual clarity can often be impactful to create not only personal change, but also future family system change.

Language is Power

Often, the experience of being part of a family enterprise can create interpersonal isolation. Inheritors often find themselves “code-switching” between peer groups as they seek spaces where they can be fully authentic. I draw significantly from other leaders in the family wealth field as I work with clients, providing evidence-based language in order to normalize the experience of growing up in a high-net-worth environment. Clearing the clutter within our personal and professional lives often begins with having the language to talk about it. While working with clients, I frequently suggest outside reading or podcast reading so that individuals can hear from others and find the language that most closely matches their experience.

The Limits of my Language

Mean the Limits of my World

What to Expect

After consulting with a client to determine if we will be a good fit, I schedule a longer discovery call so that we can gain broader understanding of who you are and how we can create concrete goals for you. Similar to my family consultation work, no two individual coaching contracts are the same. I view all my clients as co-collaborators in creating the best plan to accomplish your goals. I utilize a combination of assessment work, outside reading and “homework”, and virtual meetings in our work together.
